The Story So Far
The Kentish Candle Company was born of a desire to capture the many beautiful essences of an English country garden, in a luxury candle.
My name’s Donna and I’m the founder of The Kentish Candle Company.
I’ve always adored luxury candles and aromatherapy - my family can attest to how many hundreds (possibly thousands….!) of candles I’ve bought and enjoyed over the years. I always felt I could bring something really beautiful to the marketplace. This is when the idea for The Kentish Candle Company was born.
I’ve relished the opportunities of researching scents, attending aromatherapy courses and meeting other businesses when sourcing local essential oil or glass suppliers. Being part of a large community of wonderfully talented fellow crafters is a privilege I don’t take for granted.
I’m the founder yes, but also the tester, the essential oil sniffer. The deliberator, the u-turner, the decision maker. I’m the wax melter, the wick-sticker, the glass polisher, the coffee maker...and the biscuit dunker. I’m the gift wrapper, the label adjuster, the hand-written note writer, the photographer, wine-drinker, scene-setter and marketeer. I’m the advertiser, the social media manager and a one woman-PR machine with the toughest client there is - me!
When designing the collection, I already knew one thing: I only wanted to use soy wax in these creations. Not only are there environmental advantages, but soy wax also burns slower than paraffin wax (40-50% slower), meaning you get a candle that lasts longer.
The warm, inviting glow from these candles in their amber glass jars is not only a pleasing aesthetic, but the amber-coloured glass is also a nod to the brewing heritage in Kent.
